The Watchman watches in vain
“If the Lord is not helping the builders, then the building of a house is to no purpose: if the Lord does not keep the town, the watchman keeps his watch for nothing” Psalm 127:1.
This is the story of Nigeria as she battles with the problems of JTF; Joint Task Force and MEND; Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. This movement is lead by a man called Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) of the Gbaramatu kingdom of Warri. Some days back this man with his aides surrendered their ammunition, but was later attacked by suspected JTF members, should this be the case? Why the sudden decline and change in the system and why are these people being attacked? This government ought to sit up and do the right thing leave these guys alone and move on to something concrete. The governor of Rivers State should be careful. With this attack on Tompolo the government should be prepared and ready to face the consequences of their action. Also, another chieftain in the Niger Delta, Ateke Tom; this men need not be victimized or punished they are fighting for a course which should be upheld and not damned. There is need for look at the present situation in the Niger Delta, JTF is not solving any problem the rather they are adding to it. The resultant force from all these shootings is bloodshed and bloodbath. Someone should please warn this government that this would not solve the problem. It will only compound the situation and add more spark to the already lit fire. Don’t get me wrong I’m against the system through which these guys are sending out their message. It’s all a wrong approach which needs urgent attention. But carrying weapons is not at par with peace. This is where the story begins…
I love to be a world changer.
